Can you really generate passive income through your blog?
The term “passive income” implies that money is being generated without being actively involved. And I can tell you that with a blog, there is definitely a hell of a lot of active work involved.
But I believe the statement to be true…
Yes, you can generate passive income through a blog.
What does it take to create passive income streams?
Creating streams of passive income involves working your ass off at the start. Anyone that tells you otherwise is lying to you! Passive income is tough at the start because you need to create something worthy of producing that income over the long-term.
In the world of blogging, this could be an epic 12,000 word post on passive income ideas or a some other long-form piece of content that blows everything else out of the water. This type of content is worthy of ranking on the first page of Google and with that, it’ll bring in a consistent flow of traffic for years to come for your website.
Monetising your blog for passive income
Monetising your blog to generate passive income involves leveraging popular online business models. These models of business allow you set up systems on your site that work without requiring human input.
Things like lead magnets and email autoresponders.
These tools are powerful ways to get people onto your email list so you can follow up with them and build a relationship.
One of the most powerful business models is called affiliate marketing. This method of business involves referring relevant products/services for a commission. It’s the easiest way for people to get started online as they don’t need to create their own products from scratch. Instead they can refer products that already exist that are relevant to their audience and niche.
Why most people fail with passive income
We live in a culture obsessed with instant gratification. Most people aren’t willing to do the work required to achieve long-term results.
We’re so obsessed with short-term wins, we want success and we want it now.
The truth is, success is a long hard road full of bumps and challenges that are waiting to knock your teeth out. There’s no such thing as an overnight success. It’s good old fashioned hard-work and persistance that produces results over the long-term.
Investing in your education and your personal growth is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Many people have incredible potential but they just don’t commit to bettering themselves so they fail to reach their full potential.
If you’re someone who is unable to play the long game, I don’t recommend starting a blog, it’s one of the hardest online businesses to run. Why? Because it takes so much time to start achieving results and it also requires mastering a variety of digital marketing skill sets.
Things like email marketing, list building, writing, paid advertising, SEO, content marketing, and the list goes on!
What would you rather do?
The traditional career path is no longer a safe option. Some people still assume that getting a degree ensures they’ll have the ability to hold down a job for 40+ years before they can retire. For the majority of people, this is no longer an option.
Have you noticed how businesses are laying off their people these days?
Just ask around. You’ll quickly discover that job security is a thing of the past.
The internet of things has changed the way we do everything in our lives. It’s also changed how we start and run businesses. We’re lucky enough to live in a time where starting a business doesn’t require thounsands of dollars in start-up capital. We can build genuine businesses with a low budget and create something that produces a respectable amount of passive income.
Heck, many people have started little side-projects only for them to turn into fully-fledged businesses that surpass their full-time income.
The internet is bursting with opportunity. It’s up to you to take advantage of it.
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start building those streams of income!
